she enjoys inspiring students of all ages with her knowledge & passion
for Contemporary Dance!
A Contemporary Dance artist from Westchester, NY, Lara Kennedy began
her dance education at Logrea Dance Academy, focusing on Vaganova Ballet Technique.
She enjoyed portraying various roles
in such ballets as The Nutcracker,
La Boutique Fantasque, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty.
In 2009, Lara was invited to perform with the Westchester Ballet in a fundraising event for NYC’s Joyce Theatre.
Lara’s love of movement led her to explore the dance techniques of George Balanchine, Lester Horton, Martha Graham, and May O'Donnell.
Learning and taking the stage alongside professional dancers, she discovered new styles and ideas while attending dance workshops with New York State Summer School of the Arts, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Hubbard Street Dance, Hofesh Shechter Company, and Earl Mosley's Institute for the Arts.
As a senior in High School,
Lara was
accepted to the Alvin Ailey
Pre-Professional Dance Program,
where she continued
her Ballet, Modern, & Contemporary Dance training from 2015-2017.
After spending three weeks with the Joffrey Ballet School in Genoa, Italy,
she joined their year-round trainee program in New York City.
For the 2018- 2019 season, Lara danced professionally with the Graham-based Toronto Dance Theatre.
Since relocating to Wilmington NC,
Lara has enjoyed connecting with the vibrant local dance community and sharing her passion for Modern & Contemporary Dance with students at The Dance Element.
